Peru started to build a new country with education thanks to the implementation of the National Scholarship System and actions designed to enhance the sector, highly important to the country’s children and youngsters, President Ollanta Humala affirmed.

Before National Program for Scholarships and Educational Loans (Pronabec) beneficiaries, the Head of State stressed the tool has benefitted 100,000 grant-holders to date.

"We started to build a new country with education; a more developed country capable of competing with Europa and other nations […] on the same level. That is achieved with education, knowledge in the head, and that is what we want to build," he underlined.

The President participated in a meeting with 2016 National Program of Scholarships and Educational Loan (PRONABEC) grant holders.

Since 2012, Peru's Education Ministry contributes to granting scholarships and loans to high-performing students from underprivileged households.

The gathering took place at Callao’s Miguel Grau Stadium.
