Peru President visits U17 men's national team

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday visited the men's national soccer team that will participate in the 2017 South American Under-17 Championship starting next week.

The Head of State was welcomed at the National Sports Village (Videna) by Peruvian Soccer Federation's President Edwin Oviedo and top officials like former player Juan Carlos Oblitas.

The statesman handed out the red-and-white shirts the youngsters will be wearing in the championship. The event will be held for the second time in Chile from February 23 to March 19. 

The young squad will head to the Southern nation on Sunday, February 19. Athletes will face counterparts from Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Venezuela.

As part of the visit, Mr. Kuczynski also learned about the Federation's plans to strengthen youth soccer in the country.
