President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Monday morning recognized secondary students from Ayacucho-based "9 de diciembre" School for their performance at the 2016 Student Census Evaluation (ECE).
ECE is conducted annually by the Education Ministry in all public and private schools across the country to assess students' learning levels.
Joined by Education Minister Marilu Martens, the leader also participated in a model class to verify pupils' progress in maths and reading at the said school.
Ayacucho's primary second-grade students (today in third grade) stood out for their significant improvement in maths, up from 30.1 points in 2015 to 48.6 in 2016.
Overall, the region's primary students climbed 3.8 points, going from 48.3 (2015) to 52.1 (2016).
