Peruvian President Ollanta Humala today exhorted private and public sectors to speed up investment projects and get together with central, local and regional governments, so that initiatives are not stopped at directorates and regional councils.
Mr. Humala noted Peru has reduced poverty and maintained growth regardless of the global slowdown context. He also supported the decision of investing in the country.
Statements were made as he opened refurbishment works at a fishing artisanal landing stage located in Paita town.
Refurbishment works are aimed at contributing to the development of local population and the artisanal and export fishing sector.
The project includes a modern fishing infrastructure that allows the upload of hydro biological resources allocated for direct human consumption under sanitary standards.
The upgrade also includes infrastructure remodeling works in compliance with the requirements of fishing activity’s sanitary regulations; this will ensure the upload, manipulation, and preservation of hydro biological resources in good sanitary conditions for direct human consumption (18,000 tons yearly).
The work entailed an investment of S/.10,200,140 (about US$3,254,671) and will benefit 1,080 artisanal fishermen.
The ceremony saw the participation of Production Minister Piero Ghezzi and Piura regional authorities.
