10:56 | Lima, Jan. 11.

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Thursday morning traveled to Peru's northern Piura region to supervise prevention works and deliver houses to "Coastal El Niño" victims, among other activities.

As is known, this region was hit hard by Coastal El Niño phenomenon last year.

Said weather event was characterized by heavy rains, landslides, and floods, which destroyed infrastructure and crops, leaving many citizens homeless.

The Head of State announced this trip via Facebook.

According to Piura Governor Reynaldo Hilbck, the statesman will visit several districts in the region, particularly those zones affected by the climate phenomenon.

While in Piura, Mr. Kuczynski will be joined by Prime Minister Mercedes Araoz, as well as Ministers Bruno Giuffra (Transport and Communications) and Carlos Bruce (Housing, Construction, and Sanitation).
