Peru President to meet with Amazon mayors

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will today travel to Iquitos (Loreto region) to participate in the 1st Meeting of Amazon Mayors and inspect the city's High Performance School (COAR).

The Head of State will first supervise Iquitos COAR, where students will showcase their expertise in robotics, the presidential press office reported.
 
President Kuczynski will also share with students his experience of living in the Amazon as a child. 

Likewise, he will talk to teenage students to learn about their view on Iquitos city's development. 

Mayors Meeting

Later today, the statesman will attend the 1st Meeting of Amazon Mayors, featuring State Ministers and more than 200 district and province Mayors from Amazonian regions: Loreto, Amazonas, Madre de Dios, San Martin and Ucayali.
 
The event will also see the presence of Prime Minister Fernando Zavala, as well as Ministers Alfredo Thorne (Economy and Finance), Martin Vizcarra (Transport and Communications), Jose Manuel Hernandez (Agriculture and Irrigation), Elsa Galarza (Environment) and Eduardo Ferreyros (Foreign Trade and Tourism).
 
Ministers Marilu Martens (Education), Patricia Garcia (Health), Edmer Trujillo (Housing, Construction and Sanitation) and Cayetana Aljovin (Development and Social Inclusion) will also join the meeting.
 
The activity aims to create a space for dialogue between State Ministers and local authorities to learn about Amazon towns' main demands, as well as to enable projects execution and improve local government management.
 
In addition, the meeting seeks to upgrade the quality of citizen services and strengthen mayors' work regarding public policies and territorial development.
