00:11 | Lima, Aug. 17.

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala will meet his French counterpart Francois Hollande on September 27 in New York City, where both leaders will address the fight against climate change, Peru’s Environment Minister Manuel-Pulgar Vidal announced.

The gathering will take place in the framework of the 70th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN). During the event, the Post-2015 Development Agenda is expected to be adopted.

The meeting is aimed at connecting the Sustainable Development Goals to the climate change debate, which will be held on that date, Pulgar-Vidal told Andina news agency.

Likewise, it is aimed at favoring efforts undertaken with the aim of reaching a consensual agreement on greenhouse gas emission reduction and other measures expected to be taken at the Paris UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) Summit.

It must be noted the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP 20) was held in Peru last December.
A draft text was reached by all participating countries. It will serve as the basis for the new declaration.
