The Peruvian government’s agenda consists of works constructed for the benefit of the population in the national sphere, President Ollanta Humala affirmed.

On Thursday afternoon, Mr. Humala attended the opening ceremony for the hydroelectric power plants Runatullo 2 and Runatullo 3; both located in Junin region.

The Executive Power works for the well-being of Peruvian citizens by developing projects to provide water supply, drainage systems, electrification, roads, sidewalks, hospitals and education centers, the President pointed out.

"This is what the people need. That is why we work and connect the government's agenda to that of the people's," he added.

The opening of the said hydroelectric power plants is part of the efforts undertaken by the government, so the State is able to reach the formerly-excluded areas, which according to Peru's top official, is "essential" to counter previous administrations’ "altitude sickness."

In that sense, he said the Peruvian State has a "historical debt" to the country's rural and rainforest areas, since modernity has expanded merely along the coastal area.

"We bet on diversifying the energy basket,  on wind power, photovoltaic energy provided by solar panels and hydropower [...]. The renewable energy we are providing joins the energy network of the country," the President emphasized.
