Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski affirmed frontal fight against crime and public insecurity cannot stop in the country.

Via Twitter, the 78-year-old referred to a Congress session Interior Minister Carlos Basombrio attended on Wednesday to answer a total of 39 questions.

"Minister Basombrio's presentation [at Parliament] addressed concrete achievements. Great work. The struggle against public insecurity cannot stop," the Head of State expressed.

Precisely, Minister Basombrio underlined his administration is working diligently to deliver security solutions, leading to lower victimization and extortion rates.

He also announced Interior sector's investment portfolio (worth S/322 million or about US$98.4 million) for this year is focused on improving security forces' logistics and actions.

The budget will be spent on police stations, border surveillance posts, police academies and equipment. 


Also on Wednesday, Peru's Economy and Finance Minister Alfredo Thorne confirmed his resignation from the Executive Branch after having lost a confidence vote at Congress.

The decision was taken following a debate, during which parties expressed their stance on the matter.
