Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Thursday night received former Caracas City Mayor Antonio Ledezma and his wife Mitzy Capriles, with whom he discussed the human, economic and political crisis facing Venezuela.
The Head of State was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Cayetana Aljovin and lawmaker Gilbert Violeta.
Held in an atmosphere of great cordiality, the meeting addressed the Bolivarian country's call for a presidential election by the end of April.
Mr. Kuczynski believes this call "puts the conduct of democratic, transparent and credible presidential elections at risk."
Likewise, he was emphatic in stating that the process requires "the participation of electoral institutions and independent international observers" to ensure impartiality and objectivity for Venezuelan nationals.
Both Kuczynski and Aljovin condemned the
acts of violence that have taken place in Venezuela, where a police raid resulted in the death of several citizens including police inspector Oscar Perez.
Ledezma
arrived Wednesday in Lima to seek support and solidarity from Peruvian Government officials and other politicians, in the face of the increasingly-critical situation his country faces.
