Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Monday presided over the launching ceremony of Trabaja Peru (Work, Peru) program.

Trabaja Peru is a social program designed to create jobs and promote the development of infrastructure projects in areas affected by heavy rains and landslides.

As is known, the Inca nation has been at the mercy of several landslides over recent weeks, as result of downpours overflowing rivers in different regions.

Peru's Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) will create some 12,000 temporary jobs in areas affected by landslides, located in 11 regions.

These new positions will be related to the construction of retaining walls, levees, stairways and irrigation channels, among others.

In this sense, the central government inked agreements with regional and municipal governments during the launching ceremony of the program.

These agreements will allow the transfer of resources to execute the mentioned projects, thus creating jobs for citizens affected by the onslaughts of nature.

Said ceremony took place at Lima-based Government Palace.
