President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Monday recalled he was elected for a five-year term (2016-2021) and affirmed he will not resign due to baseless allegations.
"This is not a personal issue; it is an institutional issue. I was elected for five years, and I will complete it [the mandate]," the statesman expressed.
"But there is now a communist group promoting a new impeachment attempt; since the
first one failed, [they say] let's find another reason, and that is the pardon to Fujimori," the Head of State said.
"I am going to defend myself against the editorials and everyone who says I am going to resign [...]," he added.
Likewise, Mr. Kuczynski suggested those who push for his impeachment —on the media— to accompany him to Puno, Tarapoto, and Tumbes to listen to the opinion of those who want progress,
water access, and
education for their children, among other benefits.
Within this context, the Peruvian leader noted the Inca country has made significant progress.
Remarks were made during a ceremony marking the opening of the 3rd Meeting of Iberoamerican Integration and the Pacific Alliance.
