Peru's progress and government management should not be based solely upon infrastructure projects, but also on the human side to build a much more "solid and integrated" country, President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski highlighted on Friday.
"Bricks cannot be more important than people," he said during a symposium on mental health and substance use at Peruvian Medical Association headquarters.
In this sense, the Head of State warned that investing a lot of resources in "nice hospitals" does not necessarily lead to effective medical care.
Such practice, which he called "the brick prejudice," could also be seen in universities, where the State allocated resources for the construction of buildings while neglecting libraries and laboratories.
"We must re-align ourselves a bit more with the human side [of things]," the statesman pointed out.
Mr. Kuczynski was joined by Health Minister Patricia Garcia.
