12:00 | Huamanga (Ayacucho region), Dec. 9.

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski today expressed his disapproval of a potential censure motion against Education Minister Jaime Saavedra, who has recently been target of harsh criticism by opposition-led Parliament.

In this sense, the Head of State ratified his full support to Saavedra, who will not resign "on any account." Likewise, he stressed the minister properly defended himself on Wednesday, when he addressed Congress.

"The attacks to him are random and have no basis […]. Yet the main subject, which is the educational reform, something he has been working on for three years, has not been addressed. And this is a State policy we will stand up for," he pointed out.

Regarding the motion of no confidence to be moved against Saavedra, Peru's Commander-in-Chief said that "this kind of interventions generate instability and hampers investments."

The top official arrived in Huamanga (Ayacucho region) this morning to participate in the ceremony marking the 192nd Anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho, among other activities.
