Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski rejected claims that he was hired as Odebrecht's financial consultant after completing his tenure as minister. Plus, the Head of State ratified he has never received money from the corruption-tainted conglomerate to fund his presidential campaigns.
Remarks were made in a televised address to the nation on Wednesday, November 15.
"As Head of State, I wholeheartedly support the fight against corruption at all levels: at the Judiciary, the Prosecutor's Office, the Parliament and, of course, the Executive," he was quoted as saying.
Mr. Kuczynski recalled his commitment to building a better, economically revived, and rapidly-growing country for Peruvians by the end of his term in 2021.
"We are on the right track, but everyone must fight corruption to finally achieve this. I'm committed to this fight," he assured.
Additionally, the Commander-in-Chief rejected allegations that he was hired as a financial consultant after serving as economy and finance minister in Peru.
"They say I was a pain in the neck as finance minister, against the company's projects. So, they decided to hire me as a financial consultant. Such allegation is also false," he affirmed.
Last Tuesday the President affirmed he
has never received money from corruption-tainted Odebrecht to fund presidential campaigns in 2011 and 2016.
