Peru President congratulates US President-elect on victory via letter

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski has sent a letter to United States' newly-elected President Donald Trump to congratulate him on winning the elections.

Mr. Kuczynski also wished Mr. Trump success in his administration, according to the correspondence to the Republican leader. 

In his message, Peru's Head of State said he hopes to reinforce Peru-US bilateral and cooperation ties during Mr. Trump's coming presidential term, set to begin on January 20 next year. 

He expressed the Peruvian Government's major interest in carrying on working to consolidate the strategic partnership for the 21st century started by President Obama.

The document also conveyed Peru's intention to strengthen both countries' partnership based on shared values and principles such as democracy, the rule of law, human rights and free trade, among others.  

Earlier today, the top official used his Twitter account to greet the US President-elect.
