Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski reiterated the Government's commitment to Huancaya —a small village in the Lima highlands— and stressed the need to boost sanitation, drinking water and education works.

The statesman arrived in Yauyos province to promote a water plant initiative, introduced by the Environment Ministry, so as to promote sustainable use of water and preserve the area's ecosystem.

At the launch, Mr. Kuczynski said a beautiful place like Huancaya requires "concrete works," like upgrading the road, thereby providing a faster means of transportation to other towns.

"Carretera Central [highway] is quite close and needs to be fixed. That's what we plan to do along with [Vice-President] Martin Vizcarra and Bruno Giuffra through the Transport portfolio," he was quoted as saying.

The 78-year-old underlined the project cannot wait for another year. Plus, he expressed the need to equip the local school and improve education infrastructure for children.

"We are going to support it [the project]," he indicated.

The Peruvian leader was joined by Environment Minister Elsa Galarza and other government officials.
