Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski proposed to host a national dialogue to discuss housing issues, thus explaining advantages of living in apartment buildings and in two or more story houses.

Remarks were made on Saturday during his TV program titled "Conversando con el Presidente" (A Conversation with the President), which featured Authority for Reconstruction with Changes (RCC) Executive-Director Pablo de la Flor.

Peru's top official said various Coastal El Niño victims do not relish the idea of living in an apartment building.

"We need to hold a national dialogue on housing […] I've noticed Peruvians prefer a house and don't like going up and down stairs. We have to persuade them to use two- instead of one-story buildings, otherwise we'll live in large-scale cities," he affirmed.

Large cities result in troublesome traffic congestion, and long distance leads to limited access to water pipes, he explained.

During the talk, the 78-year-old noted de la Flor's efforts toward reconstruction and the erection of temporary houses in northern regions hit by flooding and heavy rain.
