Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski witnessed the signing of a disbursement agreement to fund the Hydroelectric Power Plant San Gaban III in Puno.

The deal was reached between China Development Bank and the concessionary company Hydro Global Peru SAC.

The signing of this agreement will see nearly US$500 million invested in Puno region.

Such project provides a major source of direct and indirect jobs within the plant's sphere of influence and will improve the quality of life of Puno inhabitants.

To President Kuczynski —who stressed the fact that major investments continue to flow into Peru— the deal constitutes a sign of confidence in the country.

"There is more work to be done in Peru's rural areas —the most backward and poor zones where 20% of the population lives, many of them without drinking water and electricity," he said.

To that end, the Government is promoting a campaign to make electricity and gas accessible to all rural and urban areas, respectively.

The activity also featured Energy and Mines Minister Cayetana Aljovin, who noted the project is part of the Kuczynski administration's social revolution.
