On Sunday Peru’s President Ollanta Humala arrived in France to participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 21st Conference on Climate Change (COP21) officially starting on Monday.

Mr. Humala landed at Le Bourget airport at 20:30 (local time). He was received by Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Maria Sanchez.

On Monday, the President —along with other 150 Heads of State and Government— will join the opening ceremony of COP21 followed by a Leaders Event at the Loire Room.

Representatives —without Presidents— will continue negotiating a planetary agreement against feared climate change from Tuesday thru December 11th.

The Head of State is also due to open the Peru Pavilion at COP21 headquarters, where he will give a brief speech before attending the launch of a communiqué on inefficient fossil fuel subsidy reforms.

Later, he will attend a high-level event on forests and climate change and take part in the photo to support the leaders’ declaration on that matter.

After that, Mr. Humala will join the official luncheon offered by French President François Hollande and Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius before joining a high-level event on resilience.

As part of his official agenda, he is expected to hold a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Likewise, he will meet with Federica Mogherini, current High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
