Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski announced his Government will continue to carry out works that are underway all over the country. Plus, he remains optimistic about the economic outlook for this year.
Speaking to regional governors at a working meeting in Lima, he thanked them for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing to move the country forward.
"I've come here to say hello, to thank you for your support and to say we are going to carry on working. As you know, we've had a very difficult year, but in the end, I think we managed to succeed because allegations had no basis at all," he stated.
Likewise, he expressed his willingness to seek out calm and bring all projects forward.
In this sense, he indicated plenty of works are being implemented; some of them have been delayed, mainly the reconstruction works —an expected situation since his administration intended to do things differently and avoid relocation of families in landslide-prone areas.
"I'm quite optimistic about what this year may bring. Let's consider the country is enjoying a tailwind. We haven't seen these [metal] prices since 2008, and nowadays the country produces 3 million tons of copper compared to 1.5 million tons at that time," he added.
For that reason, Mr. Kuczynski stressed the need to focus on the most important works.
