President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Friday affirmed it is essential all children in the country be vaccinated to remain protected against diseases.

The Head of State recalled that —thanks to immunization— the country has managed to eliminate cases of poliomyelitis, yellow fever and other ailments that were fatal for children.

"That is why the work of the Health Ministry and the World Health Organization —with the support of Brazil— is important," the statesman expressed.

Mr. Kuczynski went on to call on parents to vaccinate their children and provide them with healthy foods.

Statements were made at the launch of the vaccination service against chickenpox.

The first phase of this vaccination service took place at the National Institute of Child Health (INSN) in Lima's Breña district.

It must be noted this service will be extended —shortly— to hospitals based in Lima and other regions.
