Thanks to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), Peru will strengthen commercial ties with the world because it will join the largest free trade area, which accounts for 40% of global Gross Domestic Product, Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano affirmed.

"Thus, this news has had a great impact at the international level, since it [TPP] is an economic instrument that has never been seen before, which will help create numerous opportunities for growth, as well as for the diversification of Peruvian economy," Cateriano expressed.

In this context, the Prime Minister highlighted President Ollanta Humala’s decision to ratify Peru’s opening commitment to international markets aimed at achieving economic progress and social inclusion.

Cateriano Bellido noted that TPP is a solid agreement, which will have an impact on the rise in exports. Likewise, it will generate opportunities for SMEs to acquire supplies and to become suppliers.

After seven years of negotiations, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, United States, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Vietnam, TPP member countries, signed a free trade agreement in Atlanta (US) on Monday.

Signing the final TPP agreement was also highlighted by International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde, who is in Peru to attend the Meetings of World Bank/IMF Boards of Governors.
