In October, Lima will be the host of the “Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF),” Peru’s Prime Minister Pedro Cateriano said today.
"It is not only the scenario for the most important discussion on economic matters, but it will also have to boost the interest and participation in the future of the economy and development of the region," he said.
Cateriano provided these statements in the opening ceremony of the international conference on the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) that gathers experts from Europe and South America.
This seminar will provide information about the benefits for the public and private sector as the outcome of Peru’s relations with OECD.
Peru's participation has been strengthened by participating in the “Programa País” (Country Programme).
In 2014, the OECD established Country Programmes as a new instrument for supporting dynamic, emerging economies in designing their reforms and strengthening public policies.
The programme seeks to support Peru in the design process of reforms and the strengthening of its public policies.
Peru will be the first country, at which the OECD will begin the Country Programme implementation.
It includes the elaboration of a series of documents, through which the OECD will assess the current situation of Peru, based on information to be obtained from the most relevant sectors in the search for sustainable development.
"We believe the work and collaboration with OECD will allow us to advance on important topics," he said.
