Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's administration is always willing to discuss matters with other political parties and their leaders, and thus keeps the doors open to them, Prime Minister Fernando Zavala affirmed on Tuesday.

"We are always open to dialogue," Zavala affirmed.

"We always have been with different political parties […] and always will be open to dialogue, which is so important for development," the Cabinet Chief said.

Statements were made in response to whether President Kuczynski would hold a new meeting with opposition leader Keiko Fujimori, whose party holds the majority in Congress.

While no particular subject is being considered for such dialogue at the moment, the government official anticipated relevant matters —demanding the involvement of all political sectors— are likely to come up in coming weeks or months.

And, when such need arises, "political leaders will be called, as is natural in a democratic and open environment."

In this sense, Zavala stressed the Executive and Legislative bodies must work together on finding the necessary mechanisms to ease the tension between them.

"[…] I do believe Executive and Congress must find ways and bridges towards that [consensus], for the benefit of all citizens," he pointed out.

Remarks were made following the launch of the National Plan to Tackle Mother-Child Anemia and Malnutrition.

The campaign seeks to reduce anemia in children to 19% by 2021. The condition currently affects 43% of under-3-year-olds in Peru.

Joining the Prime Minister were Ministers Patricia Garcia (Health) and Cayetana Aljovin (Social Inclusion).
