Pacific Alliance (PA) members —Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru— will exchange information on marine scientific research as part of efforts towards global hydrobiological sustainability, Peru's Deputy Fishing and Aquaculture Minister Hector Soldi said Wednesday.
Announcement came following a meeting between PA countries' national
fishing and aquaculture research institutes organized by the Peruvian Production Ministry.
During the activity, Deputy Minister Soldi addressed the complementarity between gastronomy and sustainable fishing, as well as the need to raise awareness among fishermen regarding minimum sizes and closed seasons.
The meeting sought to lay the foundations for the implementation of a knowledge-sharing network to promote and reinforce fishing, as well as aquaculture research among PA economies.
The Pacific Alliance's fishing and aquaculture ad hoc team has been working since early 2016 on boosting international fishing trade and deepening fishing integration.
