The Government of Peru authorized the transfer of more than S/291.8 million (around US$89.9 million) to Housing, Construction and Sanitation Ministry (MVCS) in order to finance mitigation actions following heavy rains in Peru.
According to an emergency decree published in El Peruano official gazette, money will be spent on vehicles, machinery and equipment required to restore sanitation services and/or ensure their continuity.
Likewise, the funding will be used to hire skilled and unskilled workers under a service agreement, if needed.
It will also pay sanitation service suppliers’ expenses incurred in transportation, operational capacity, use of equipment and machinery, as well as their personnel expenses related to disaster response.
Temporary housing modules
The emergency decree authorizes MVCS to purchase goods and services for the delivery of temporary housing modules, in a bid to handle emergencies triggered by rains and related hazards —modules are targeted at areas where emergency state is declared.
Modules might be brought to other places if the National Information System for Response and Rehabilitation (SINPAD) data differs from the assessment conducted by the Commission for the Formalization of Informal Property (Cofopri).
