325 Pisco samples from Peruvian regions Ica, Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna and Lima will join the 22nd National Pisco Contest.
Set to take place on August 24-26, the event aims to consolidate the drink as essential Peruvian flagship beverage.
Samples were collected from 102 producing companies and undergo a physic-chemical process at Agro-industry's Technological Innovation Centers (Cite), situated in Ica.
"Participation included an extra 18% of samples compared to previous competition," National Pisco Commission (Conapisco) Technical Secretary Alejandro Bernaola stated.
"We have great expectations regarding the contest because we want to position Pisco as Peru's flagship product [...]," he indicated.
Winners will be invited to Mistura 2016 Expoalimentaria fairs taking place in Lima on September 2-11 and September 28-30, respectively.
The 22nd National Pisco Contest's opening ceremony took place this August 24 at Libertador Hotel in Arequipa.
