A total of 14,511 people —among nationals and foreigners— visited Lambayeque region's six museums within the framework of International Museum Day.

These renowned compounds are: Brüning National Museum, Royal Tombs of Sipan, Sican, Tucume, Huaca Rajada-Sipan and Chotuna-Chornancap Museum.

Attendees enjoyed a series of cultural and academic activities, as well as contests, music and free guided tours across museums' facilities.

According to figures by Naylamp Executive Unit, these six sites welcomed over 14,000 people who took this opportunity to join the cultural event celebrated every March 18th.

Statistics also indicate the number of visitors saw a 36% increase compared to the figure registered the year before.

Royal Tombs of Sipan was the most visited compound having welcomed 7,603 people.

Such museum features Señor de Sipan’s grave, jewels, ornaments, ceramics and grave goods discovered by Peruvian archaeologists Walter Alva and Luis Chero Zurita in 1987.

Thanks to these valuable relics, this compound is one of the country's top attractions.
