The Government of Peru has appointed Luis Iberico Nuñez and Gonzalo Gutierrez Reinel as Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to the Italian Republic and the Kingdom of Belgium, respectively.

Credentials and full powers have been issued to the diplomats in accordance with two different resolutions published today in the official gazette El Peruano.

Subsequent ministerial resolutions will set the date on which the new Ambassadors will officially take up their diplomatic duties.

The appointments take place in accordance with the Peruvian Constitution, which established the Presidential Power to appoint plenipotentiary ambassadors and ministers with the approval vote of the Council of Ministers and the duty to report to the Congress of the Republic of Peru.

On the other hand, Maria Velasquez Rivas-Plata, current Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to the Holy See, was named to serve concurrently as envoy to the Republic of Malta.

Corresponding documents were signed by Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna Mendoza.
