National entrepreneurs could concretize business deals worth US$80 million at Peru Moda and Peru Gift Show 2016 fairs held in Lima on April 20th-22nd, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva reported on Monday.

Over 1,500 international buyers participated in the event, convened by Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) and the country's Trade Offices based in overseas (OCEXs).

Most purchasers arrived from the U.S., Brazil, United Kingdom, Italy and Chile. Clients came from Europe, Asia and the Americas.

"The Peruvian textile and clothing exportable supply is going through a favorable situation, when markets demand business proposals at competitive prices [...]," Silva noted.

"On this edition, our entrepreneurs have set a renewed trade strategy based on quality, as well as innovation in design and logistics," she indicated.

Throughout the event, Peruvian businesspeople highlighted international buyers' quality and expressed their satisfaction for having gained access to new markets.

It must be noted alpaca-made products drew attention from buyers present at the fashion show.

The said business exhibition was attended by nearly 8,500 entrepreneurs, among national producers, suppliers and professionals from the textile, garment, fashion, handicraft and decoration chains.

Likewise, Silva stressed the significant (national and international) media coverage during this mega event, which welcomed over 20 journalists from leading specialized media outlets.

Mujer magazine (Chile), Fashion News (Mexico), Journal du Textile (France), CCTV (China), Global Fashion Export (Spain), Twist (United Kingdom), Senken (Japan), Tekstil Forum (Norway) and L' Uomo Vogue (U.S.), among others stood out.

"We are proud of efforts and passion of entrepreneurs, purchasers, the media, Mincetur and Promperu teams [....]. This edition's success proves that we are on the right track towards its consolidation as Latin America's leading business platform for the textile and clothing industry," the minister stated.
