The internationalization of Peruvian brands by displaying its products at US department stores is one of the goals of “Peru Moda 2015” international fashion event, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Magali Silva affirmed.

In order to make this possible, one Peruvian brand and a designer introducing the best proposals on the catwalk will be granted a point of sale at famous Macy's department store.

Road to Macy's

"Representatives of Macy's and the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce will have the difficult task to pick one of these duos. Each will be granted a point of sale at one of its stores; the brand and the creative designer,” Silva told.

According to the Minister, the initiative implemented by the Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce, thanks to an alliance established with Macy's, aims at contributing to the fashion industry through the development of networks, implementation of educational programs, work training and assistance to professionals, entrepreneurs and sector’s designers.

In this sense, both organizations inked an agreement with Peru’s Export and Tourism Promotion Board (Promperu) to enable Peruvian brands to become internationalized.

According to Minister Silva, the Washington D.C.-based Peru Commercial office (OCEX) also undertook efforts towards reaching this goal.
