Peru: Mining sector portfolio comprises many projects

The mining projects portfolio in Peru surpasses US$60.9 billion. It comprises 54 projects, according to the "Peru's mining & metals investment guide 2015/2016" prepared by EY audit firm.

The report specifies 10 projects consist in expansions. 16 have the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approved. Four projects currently are "under EIA assessment," while others (24) are paralyzed.

It also indicates that 62.94% (US$38.356 billion) of the portfolio represents copper exploitation, 16.46% (US$10.031 billion) gold production, and 9.03% (US$5.5 billion) are iron production.

In addition, 5.59% (US$3.4 billion) are polymetallic projects; 3.07% (US$1.8 billion) phosphate and 1.34% (US$816 million) represents zinc projects.

As well, according to EY, there are 24 mining projects that have subscribed fiscal stability agreements.
