According to this entity, this growth was possible due to the positive performance displayed by the metal mining subsector, which increased by 8.69%.
A higher production of copper (18.21%), gold (9.28%), molybdenum (37.12%) and lead (2.35%) led to this result.
Nonetheless, reduction was seen in the production of zinc (-3.65%), silver (-14.47%), steel (-25.38%) and tin (-14.29%).
Also, hydrocarbons output reduced by 22.10% due to a lower extraction of crude oil (-14.95%), gas liquids (-31.70%) and natural gas (-12.61%).
Fishing rose
In the same period, the fishing sector production increased by 23.15% due to a higher catch of anchovy directed to indirect human consumption (38.77%). It went up from 675,652 tonnes (in May 2014) to 937,636 tonnes (in May 2015).
The unloading of species directed to consumption fresh and cured increased by 9.39% and 18.03%, respectively.
Fishing species to be sold frozen and canned reduced by 22.01% and 17.24%, respectively. Thus, direct human consumption reduced by 6.57%.
