Kuelap Fortress cable-car system resumed operations after a 15-day stop due to a power system failure caused by an electric storm.

The flow of tourists into one of Chachapoyas culture's most iconic vestiges and Amazonas region's main tourist attraction is back to normal.

The state-of-the-art service was restarted on Sunday (Christmas Day) and will be operating on a regular schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

This way, vacationers —who reached Amazonas to visit the archaeological site— were able to travel on the cutting-edge transport system.

The 20-minute cable car ride replaces a 32km path that required a 3-hour hike, approximately.

Kuelap's cable-cars offer a unique experience to users, including an impressive view along the journey —from the boarding station to the fortress, and vice-versa— and a total elevation gain of 670 meters.

The round-trip ticket costs S/20.00 (around US$6.17).

Since its launch, in March this year, the system has transported some 104,000 tourists.

Likewise, the area attempts to become Peru's second most visited destination after Machu Picchu.
