Peru's Junin region will welcome more than 25,000 national visitors during APEC holidays, its Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) projected.

It must be noted the government decreed November 17-19 as holidays for Lima and Callao, since the Peruvian capital will host the 2016 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum Leaders' Summit on November 17-20.

According to Dircetur Head Michele Antignani, Junin hosts Peru's largest Inter-Andean valley, as well as hundreds of archaeological, historical and natural attractions.

"I project Junin region will welcome some 25,000 tourists during those days. We believe many Lima residents have already planned to visit us; thus, we are getting prepared [for this],” Antignani stated.

"There are destinations such as San Pedro de Cajas, Muruhuay, San Ramon, La Merced, Pichanaki and Satipo," he indicated.

The Dircetur head stressed the region's main roads are in good condition. Likewise, neither rains nor landslides have been reported. Thus, tourists can travel to the area by car or bus.

The public servant pointed out visitors will be able to find diverse folklore, gastronomy and cultural activities across the region.
