The Government of Peru on Monday officially submitted a note of protest to Venezuela, thus expressing its "most energetic and absolute condemnation" of "insolent expressions" by the neighboring country's authorities regarding President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
As is known, Venezuela's Foreign Affairs Minister Delcy Rodriguez called Mr. Kuczynski a "coward" and a "pleasant dog" while criticizing his comments on Venezuela made in the United States days ago.
In this sense, Peruvian Director-General for the Americas Ambassador Hugo De Zela met with Venezuelan Ambassador to Lima Diego Alfredo Molero Bellavia on the occasion to hand over the said document.
Likewise, the Peruvian Government called back its Caracas-based Ambassador Mario Lopez Chavarri for consultations.
"The Government of Peru expressed its most energetic and absolute condemnation of the insolent expressions by the President of the Republic and the Foreign Affairs Minister of that country about Mr. President of the Republic of Peru," it added.
"Concerning the statements by the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, I must say that I regret and reject them because they were insolent and unacceptable," Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna said earlier on Monday.
