Peru, Indonesia to boost bilateral ties

Peru and Indonesia agreed to intensify bilateral ties during the 3rd meeting of Peru-Indonesia Bilateral Consultation Mechanism held in Jakarta (Indonesia), Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry announced.

The Peruvian delegation was led by General-Director for Economic Affairs Ambassador Javier Paulinich, whereas the Asian nation was represented by H.E. Ambassador and Director General of American and European Affairs Muhammad Anshor.

"The aforementioned meeting is an expression of the countries' high-level bilateral relations. The audience renews both nations’ interest in building a preferential partnership that accurately reflects their political and economic understanding, which diplomatic relations were established in 1975," reads the Foreign Ministry communiqué.
 
As part of dialogue, both diplomats addressed common challenges faced by their countries on a multi-lateral level "while assessing concrete bilateral actions to point out the path towards consolidating a more dynamic and strategic political-diplomatic relations."

The high-ranking officials also exchanged viewpoints on major global issues, such as human rights and international terrorism.

Meeting highlights include the agreement to hold the 4th Bilateral Consultation Mechanism, along with the 3rd Mixed Technical Economic Commission, next year in Lima "to provide further dynamism to the countries' relations."

Likewise, the two democracies agreed on the need to further strengthen their embassies, as well as to coordinate on a mutually-agreed-upon roadmap. 

To conclude, authorities signed joint minutes that collect the bilateral relation's state of affairs and sets out a roadmap towards the future.
