The Governments of Peru and India on Wednesday held the First Meeting of their bilateral Mixed Commission at the Inca country's Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters, the institution reported.

Peruvian and Indian delegations were led by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Nestor Popolizio and External Affairs Ministry Secretary (East) Ambassador Preeti Saran, respectively.

Government officials discussed priority subjects in the countries' bilateral and international agendas while expressing their interest in further strengthening bilateral ties.

In addition, the diplomats conveyed interest in promoting the increase of trade, investments and tourism, as well as deepening existing collaboration.

Such cooperation, covering political, defense, science, technology, education, agriculture, mining and energy, is to be extended to new areas.

Similarly, Ambassador Popolizio expressed Peru's appreciation for the cooperation received through the Center of Excellence in Information and Communication Technology, as well as India's decision to renew such collaboration for an additional 2-year period.

As part of the audience, both parties entered into agreements on the International Solar Alliance, renewable energies, as well as access to India's Traditional Knowledge Digital Library.

The Peru-India Mixed Commission was established by means of a Memorandum of Understanding signed in Lima on October 28, 2013.
