The new exportable supply will “come from regions” in the next ten years. Therefore, we intend to formulate and develop the strategic plans for exports, informed the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Edgar Vasquez.

The official explained this is one of the constituent lines of action of the 2025 National Strategic Exports Plan (PENX), which aims at supporting the strategic planning of each region.

"It [to reformulate the regions' plans] is important because largely the new exportable supply will come from regions, since our goal is to double non-traditional exports and reach US$25 billion by 2025," he told Andina news agency.

Vasquez indicated Lima has already achieved an important development level in exports. Now, the Ministry will focus on regions where the power of growth is mainly located.

"We will support all the regional governments to elaborate and update the Regional Strategic Exports Plans to be developed in the framework of the new 2025 PENX," he assured.

Regions must embrace foreign trade because it "is an important instrument" that will "allow them to continue" achieving the growth and well-being of its people, the Deputy Minister said.

“The idea is to diversify the exportable supply and see, which are the most remarkable destination markets for their products, while seeking to ease trade and logistics,” he suggested.

The official announced he will be traveling with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva; the director of Export Promotion at Promperú; and other authorities of the portfolio, who will pay visits to every region of the country during the upcoming weeks.
