Peruvian President Ollanta Humala held a phone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President François Hollande and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, within the framework of the preparation for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) to be held in Paris in December.
World leaders hoped the negotiation process would lead to establishing a new world agreement on the matter, expected to become valid for a long-term period.
Peru collaborates closely, since it holds the COP20 Presidency.
The President expressed the Peruvian side is convinced an inclusive society tackling climate change can be reached, as well as a low-carbon growth.
The Heads of State and Government agreed on the need to send a clear message in response to the demand for facing these current difficulties.
Similarly, the dignitaries welcomed the progresses on financial matters and the implementation of the Green Climate Fund aimed at subsidizing efforts linked to climate change mitigation.
Finally, they agreed to continue working jointly towards the Paris Declaration, through mitigation, adaptation, financing and technological support.
While on the phone, President Ollanta Humala was accompanied by Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Ana María Sánchez; and Finance, Alonso Segura.
