Peru's Housing, Construction and Sanitation Ministry (MVCS) announced the launch of the Safe Water Investment Fund (FIAS), aimed at the country's poorest communities.

The Fund will mobilize resources from investment institutions like Private Pension Funds Administrators (AFP), insurance companies, investment funds, among others, to reduce gaps in access to drinking water.

The aim is to contribute to closing gaps in access to drinking water, sewage and wastewater treatment by financing programs and projects in these fields.

FIAS regulations were published by MVCS on Wednesday to facilitate the implementation process.

They set the guidelines for appointing FIAS Board of Directors and the profile of representatives.

Financing Committee functions are also provided under these rules.

Other set functions include those of the Monitoring and Supervision Committee.
