According to Peru’s Ministry of Culture, this convergence will create space for reflection and dialogue between public servants of the abovementioned countries and representatives of national and regional indigenous peoples’ organizations, that is, the State and civil society.

The event, entitled ‘Indigenous People Development, Public Policies and Rights,” opens today at 5 p.m. local time at the Nasca Hall of the Ministry of Culture and runs through tomorrow with admission free of charge.

Peru's Vice-Ministry of Interculturality, which is in charge of the forum’s organization, will address topics related to public policies that strengthen efforts towards the development and inclusion of indigenous communities.

International attendees include Arlein Charry Velasquez, from Colombia’s Ministry of Interior; and Yaneth Ypuana, Director-General of Indigenous and Intercultural Health in Venezuela.

The forum is addressed to government officials, representatives of indigenous organizations, public management students, civil society experts and people in general.
