Finance Minister, Alonso Segura, indicated Peru has a vast reserve of metals and is one of the most important mineral producers in the world.
Minister Segura emphasized in a global context, where investments diminish, costs increase and metals' prices fall, Peru has strengthened its mining competitiveness to face the future and to continue fortifying the country's development.
In Peru, the mining projects keep attracting investors at a worldwide level, Segura said.
Peru has the lowest production costs, if compared to other countries.
Several mining companies already operate in the country, and others have expressed their interest in entering the domestic market, he highlighted.
Segura emphasized Peru has the largest metal reserves, being one of the most relevant producers in the world.
"We are the third producer of copper, zinc and silver," he pointed out.
In addition, he said Peru's portfolio of exports is one of the most diversified, compared to Chile’s or Venezuela’s.
"Our country has a portfolio of mining projects considering investments worth $US64 billion. Among the standing-out ones are those related to copper, gold and silver," he declared.
Minister Alonso Segura integrates the Peruvian delegation attending the "Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, PDAC-2015", which is the world's most important mining convention taking place in Toronto, Canada.
This delegation is headed by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Rosa María Ortiz, and is also composed of members of the Peruvian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, as well as business leaders of the energy and mining sectors.
