Peru gov’t to invest over US$3 million in tourism projects

Peru’s Economy and Finance Ministry has authorized the Tourism Ministry to transfer up to S/10.59 million (about US$3.1 million) to Caylloma and Arequipa Provincial Municipalities for tourism development.

Said resources will be allocated to two public investment projects for tourism development, as announced through Supreme Decree N° 331-2016-EF published today in El Peruano official gazette. 

Caylloma Provincial Municipality will receive S/4.6 million (about US$1.35 million) to enhance public tourist services in the Colca Valley tourist route, located in Chivay locality, Arequipa region.

On the other hand, Arequipa Provincial Municipality will be allocated S/5.9 million (about US$1.75 million) to upgrade tourist services in the Historic Center Circuit.

The decree also stipulates that both municipalities have to report physical and financial progress made against the execution schedule, as well as agreements and/or addenda signed, for supervisory and follow-up purposes.
