The Peruvian government presented a National Plan for addressing the promotion and protection of human rights nationwide for the period 2014-2016, it was reported Thursday.
The launching ceremony of the report was headed by Peru’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Claudio de la Puente, and his state’s colleague Deputy Minister of Human Rights and Access to Justice, Jose Avila Herrera.
Addresing the diplomatic corps accredited in Peru and representatives of international cooperation agencies, Herrera noted the plan reflects the government's pledge to ensure human rights are respected, protected and fulfilled at the national level.
He noted the second key ingredient of Peru's next two-year plan has a based approach of fostering the empowerment, citizen participation and good governance.
In recent days, state ministers publicly expressed their sector's commitments to take action as part of the implementation of the National Plan for Human Rights.
