Peru govt holds second dialogue meeting with political parties

The second meeting for dialogue between the government and political forces kicked off this morning in the presence of President Ollanta Humala and politicians from different parties seeking to analyze the political and electoral reform.

It should be noted Prime Minister Ana Jara welcomed each of the attendees to the meeting.

Participating parties included, among others, Fuerza Popular, Peru Mas, Peru Posible, Accion Popular, Alianza para el Progreso, Partido Nacionalista Gana Peru, Partido Popular Cristiano, Partido Humanista Peruano. A total of 16 were confirmed.

Absent from the meeting was Partido Aprista Peruano political party, whose leaders expressed their disagreement with the initiative.

The topic under discussion involves political reform, which also includes the electoral reform issue.

The non-reelection of regional and municipal authorities, the financing of political parties and the prohibition to apply for popular election posts, if committed intentional crime, are some of the issues that need to be discussed.
