The Peruvian government Saturday welcomed the joint statement on Ukraine issued in Geneva, Switzerland on April 17 by that country, Russia, United States and the European Union, urging the parties to de-escalate tensions and restore security for all citizens.
"Peru is confident that comprehensive agreements contained therein constitute the beginning of a comprehensive process of national reconciliation and regional strife that  ensure international peace and security in the area, within a framework of respect for international law and human rights," said a statement issued by the Peruvian Foreign Ministry

After hours of talks in Geneva, representatives of the aforementioned countries agreed on a plan to end the conflict in Ukraine, including demobilizing militias, vacating seized government buildings and establishing a political dialogue that could lead to more autonomy for Ukraine's regions.
