The Government of Peru has expressed strongest condemnation over recent airstrikes on medical facilities in Syria, which killed 27 people, including children and medical personnel.

The attack on the Aleppo-based hospital, it stated, is a flagrant violation to the conventions of human rights.

The said assault explains a surge in violence and violation of human rights in Syria, undermines the agreement on Cessation of Hostilities, and affects the resumption of UN-led peace talks in Geneva.

“Besides rejecting this criminal act, the Government of Peru asks for the immediate cessation of attacks against innocent civilians,” reads the release.

Peru also joins the international call issued by a UN special envoy to Syria to encourage International Syria Support Group member countries to help restore the ceasefire and prevent the collapse of peace talks.
