Also, the Ministry and Telefonica del Peru corporation inked a project financing agreement known as "Broadband Comprehensive Connectivity for the Social Development of the Northern Zone - Lambayeque region."
4 Projects
The projects aim at providing broadband intranet and internet access for the said region's public, private institutions and inhabitants through the implementation of an "optical transport network" and an access network.
In February, projects were awarded by Peru's Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión), as was requested by Fitel (Telecommunications Investment Fund).
Gilat Group is composed of companies “Gilat To Home Peru” and “Gilat Satellite Networks Israel.”
The projects will benefit 2,380 public institutions, such as schools, health facilities and police stations. Once articulated with the optical Fiber National Backbone (awarded by ProInversion in December 2013), those will cover the demand of 1,344 towns and benefit over 747,000 Peruvians.
